Moving Mind, Body, and Soul
Contrology is a mind and body exercise method created by Joseph Pilates, now simply known as Pilates. Pilates exercises are performed in a given order for only a few repetitions each paying particular attention to form and control. All movements in the Pilates method initiate from the core and work using lengthening opposition forces to strengthen and lengthen working several muscle groups at the same time.
Our small group classes, private and semi-private sessions are designed to develop strength,
flexibility, and balance addressing each student past injuries or surgeries and general fitness
and personal needs.
The Pilates practitioner at Alma Pilates will use the vast repertoire of classical Pilates apparatus: Reformer, Cadillac, Tower Units, barrels, and Wunda chairs complementing with various small props. As a result, the Pilates student will develop a limber and toned body without the bulk and stiffness that often result from other conventional strengthening exercise methods.
Pilates not only improves your body, but also helps with mindfulness and meditation. Pilates requires concentration and being in the present moment, providing a break from daily life in order to focus on yourself and get clarity.
